Abbey Museum Medieval Festival 2011 – part 2

Continuing from my previous post

Some day-trippers went to enormous trouble with their costumes … elegance personified …

Not sure what period this comes from, but the headdress looks great

Watching a fencing demonstration

Ye Olde meets Ye Newe

Modern, not Medieval, Metal

It was great to see all ages getting into the spirit …

The kids loved dressing up

Not just for the boys

A tree spirit?

At the market stalls

Only authentic period wares (reproductions, of course) were allowed at the camps … no potatoes, tomatoes, synthetic materials or watches here

The Dark Ages were serious business

Twenty-seven thousand people attended over the two days. I’m looking forward to next year’s event.
